MyxomatosisThere is currently an outbreak of Myxomatosis in wild rabbits in Aylestone Meadows in Leicester. Myxomatosis is a very unpleasant viral infection, which causes swellings around body openings and is usually fatal. It is possible for pet rabbits to catch Myxomatosis, so we strongly advise rabbit owners to ensure that their pet’s Myxomatosis vaccination is kept up to date. The recommendation is to have your rabbit vaccinated against the disease once every 6 months. Rabbits can also be vaccinated against Viral Haemorrhagic Disease.
