Our Park Vet Surgery Vets


Our aim always remains the same: to provide the highest quality of care for your pet for a prolonged and happy life. In order to do this we have always and continue to employ highly trained, caring, compassionate and approachable staff using facilities to achieve just this. Below is a list of our vets in the surgeries and specialisms they work in.

Whetstone

Tudor Lloyd
Director, Veterinary Surgeon

Tudor worked for the practice from 1995-2000 before spending two years working in Hong Kong and France. He rejoined the Practice in July 2003 and is a director in the business. He lives with his family, a Border Terrier named Tug and a cat called Algy. Surgery is his main clinical interest and he has gained a PgCert in Small Animal Surgery to become one of the consultant surgeons. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family, DIY and fishing.

Alison Watson
Veterinary Surgeon

Ali Watson graduated from Cambridge University in 1992. After a period in mixed practice, she joined the Park Veterinary Group in 1999 as a purely small animal practitioner. Apart from 2 spells on maternity leave, she has been based at our Glenfield branch for the last 15 years! She loves all aspects of veterinary work but has a particular enthusiasm for cardiology.

Beverley Southern
Veterinary Surgeon

Bev has been in small animal practice since qualifying from the Royal Vet College in 2002. I have a special interest in diagnostic imaging and cardiology. My particular passion is ultrasonography. I also enjoy training colleagues and organising the day to make sure it runs smoothly. Outside of work is busy with 2 small children and I enjoy walking and socialising with friends.

Natalie Gilbert
Veterinary Surgeon

Natalie qualified from The Royal Veterinary College in London in 2002. After spending a year in practice in Kent, she joined The Park Vet Group in 2003, as a small and large animal vet. In 2006 Natalie spent 12 months working and travelling in Australia. This included a busy calving season in the outback, and allowed her opportunity to treat lots of Australian wildlife, including repairing a koalas fractured leg! Now a busy mum of three children, Natalie works part time at the whetstone surgery, and is also part of the large animal out of hours team.

Amy Jennings
Veterinary Surgeon

Amy qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2013. After spending 18 months in a mixed practice in Nottinghamshire, she joined the Park Vet Group in June 2015 as a purely small animal vet. Her particular interests are in small animal medicine and dermatology. She shares her home with her rescue Labrador Elsie. Outside of work she enjoys spending time outdoors walking or horse-riding as well as socialising with friends.

Glenfield

Andrew Radley
Director, Veterinary Surgeon

Andrew qualified from Bristol University in 1984 and joined the practice in 1985. He initially started life as a mixed practitioner combining farm work with an expanding small animal workload. He became a partner in 1993. His main responsibilities are the small animal clinic at Glenfield surgery and our emergency service that is based there. He also has a particular interest in dermatology. Outside work he is a keen gardener and sportsman.

Laura Scrase
Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated in 2009 from the royal veterinary college and prior to that obtained a BSc in Biology from the University of Bristol. I worked part time at a greyhound practice in Essex before moving to a busy small animal practice in rural Lincolnshire, I worked there for 4 years before moving to The Park in May 2013. I enjoy all aspects of small animal medicine especially soft tissue surgery and wound management. In my spare time I enjoy running, walking and biking cross country with my 4 year old border collie and newly acquired collie cross puppy, I also spend time with my retired horse.

Chris Morris
Director, Veterinary Surgeon

Graduated from the University of Bristol in 2001. Worked as a mixed general practitioner for four years in North Wales and Rugby before joining the Park Veterinary Group in 2005 to concentrate on small animal work. Gained RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2009 and is a recognised RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery. He leads the surgical aspect of the referral department for both Orthopaedic and Soft Tissue Surgery, as well as Imaging. Away from work, he has three kids to contend with!

Helen Draper
Associate Director, Veterinary Surgeon

Helen graduated from Edinburgh Vet School in 2002 and, following a brief stint working in St Ives and then the Democratic Republic of Congo, joined the Park Vet Group in 2006. She became a veterinary associate in 2011. Originally from Yorkshire she has now settled in Leicestershire and lives in Kibworth with her husband and 2 cats. Her professional interests include emergency and small pet medicine, with a special focus on rabbits. Outside of work she enjoys mountain biking, pilates and the theatre, and is a member of the Kibworth Drama Society. She is also a Tigers supporter by marriage!

Samantha Ford
Veterinary Surgeon

Sam graduated from Cambridge in 2007 having attended a two week Game Capture course in South Africa in her final year. She worked for a small animal practice in Warwickshire before joining The Park Vet Group in October 2009 and enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery. Outside work she enjoys badminton and skiing.

Tine Anthony Knudsen
Veterinary Surgeon

Tine grew up in Denmark and graduated from Copenhagen University in 2010. Having a special interest in emergency medicine she pursued an internship in anaesthesia, analgesia and critical care at the Royal Vet College. The original plan was to only stay in England for a year, however during the internship she met her husband and the move became permanent. After mainly doing emergency work and critical care Tine started working in first opinion in 2013 as her interest for internal medicine had grown. She joined the Park Veterinary Group in the beginning of 2015. Tine spends most of her free time with her Bernese Mountain Dog puppy. It is still unknown who is training whom.

Hayley Warren
Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2012 and then worked in small animal practice near Doncaster until July 2015 when I moved to Park Vets. I enjoy all parts of small animal work but am particularly interested in neurology and medicine cases. I am originally from Leicestershire and am enjoying being back near my friends and family. Outside of work I enjoying keeping fit and socialising with my friends.

Mark Russon
Veterinary Surgeon

Graduated from Glasgow university in 2005 with honours. After starting out in general small animal practice, he moved to the PDSA in Leicester for 4 years, gaining a broad range of experience in medicine and general surgery. Mark joined the Park Veterinary Group in September 2012 to join the Ophthalmology Team alongside Gareth Jones and has obtained his PgCert(SAOphthal) to become one of the consulant ophthalmologists.

Jess Crowe
Veterinary Surgeon

Graduated from Nottingham Vet School in 2013. Having been working as a general practitioner for 4 years, she gained her PgCert(SAOphthal) in 2016. Jess joined the Park Veterinary Group in August 2017 to join the Ophthalmology Team to become one of the consulant ophthalmologists.

Tracy Bainbridge
Director, Veterinary Surgeon

Tracy joined the practice in 2000 as a mixed practitioner and in 2004 she expanded her experience by working in New Zealand for a year, before re-joining the practice in May 2005. She joined the partnership in May 2007. Tracy is based at our Scraptoft Lane surgery and is responsible for the general management of the site. She enjoys skiing, swimming and keeping fit outside work.

Wieneke Bluekens
Veterinary Surgeon

Wieneke is based at our Scraptoft Lane surgery. She also works for the Emergency Service at the Park Veterinary Hospital in Glenfield. Wieneke has worked within the Park Vet Group for over 25 years and has a tremendous amount of practical experience

Matt Flavell
Veterinary Surgeon

Matthew graduated from Liverpool Vet school in July 2012. After spending just over 3 years in a mixed practice in Rutland, he joined the Park Vet Group as a small animal vet in January 2016 His key interests lie in small animal surgery and ophthalmology. In his spare time he is a keen sportsman and is an avid supporter of Leicester Tigers and Leicester City.

Saffron Lane

Jane Yeates
Associate Veterinary Surgeon

Jane qualified from Bristol University in 1984 and has been working at the Park Vet Group since 1991, having previously worked at various practices in the UK and for the RSPCA in Melbourne, Australia. She is married with a son and a daughter, one a teenager, the other about to become one. The family all supports the Leicester Tigers and includes a very cuddly Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Jane likes to relax with a good book, once she has discharged her duties as chief cook, bottle washer and part time taxi service for her children. She became a veterinary associate in 2007, produces the small animal newsletter and information leaflets and works part time at the Saffron Lane surgery. She is an experienced small animal general practitioner, interested in both medicine and surgery. Jane also does out of hours farm work and has a particularly good success rate with bovine caesarians.

Charlotte Wright
Associate Veterinary Surgeon

Charlotte (Charlie) Wright graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 2008 and after a short time in mixed practice in Kent joined the Park Veterinary Group in June 2009 as a mixed practitioner. She spent her first two years at the Whetstone Surgery but has now joined the team at our Saffron Lane surgery. Her farm interest means that she is also able to offer practical advice on the more unusual pets we encounter including pet pigs and chickens.

Sarah Wallace
Veterinary Surgeon

Sarah is originally from Cardiff, and graduated from Nottingham vet school in 2013. She spent a year in South Wales as a small animal vet working in an orthopaedic and spinal practice before moving to Leicestershire to join the Park Vet Group in 2014. Her interests include small animal neurology and medicine. Her pet family includes her ex guide dog Paddy, who was retired due to a liver problem, and rescued cat Sprout, who was brought into the Saffron Lane surgery as a stray where she fell in love with him! Being Welsh, Sarah is an avid rugby fan, so outside of work you will usually find her cheering for Wales or Leicester Tigers!

Ophthalmology Consultant, RCVS Recognised Practitioner in Ophthalmology

Qualified from Liverpool University in 1986. Undertook a Residency in Ophthalmology at Royal Veterinary College 1992-1995. Gained RCVS certificate in Ophthalmology in 1993. Returned to Park Veterinary Group in 1995 taking ophthalmology referrals from practices throughout the East Midlands. Gareth is a Honorary Associate Professor in Veterinary Ophthalmology at Nottingham Vet School and is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Opthalmology.

Mark Russon BVMS (Hons) PgCert(SAOphthal) MRCVS
Ophthalmology Consultant, RCVS Recognised Practitioner in Ophthalmology

Our Farm Vets

Peter Orpin
Director, Veterinary Surgeon

Peter joined the practice in 1984, worked in New Zealand for a year in 1987 and became a partner in 1989. Peter had devoted much of his working life to preventive health approaches on farms. Peter became involved with the British Cattle Veterinary Association during the 1990’s, is a past president of the Association and Health Planning Tutor for BCVA. He is the co-founder of Myhealthyherd, a web based program designed to improve the health of cattle. Peter is well-known within the profession and the farming industry.He divides his time between clinical work, lecturing, consultancy and management. In 2016 he won the Dairy UK Vet of the Year award at the Dairy Cream awards for his work on teamwork, benchmarking and working with farmers to improve health and productivity

Tracy Bainbridge
Director, Veterinary Surgeon

Tracy joined the practice in 2000 and is the one of the key drivers within the farm practice. Tracy joined the partnership in 2008. Tracy completed a Certificate in Cattle Health and Production in 2009 and organises a wide range of activities within the practice including our farmer training and education program. Tracy spends the majority of her time helping our farmers improve cattle health through the routine health visit program provided by the practice as well as having a special interest in dairy goat medicine.

Wendy Bottrill
Associate Veterinary Surgeon

Wendy is local to the area. Wendy joined the profession as a mature student after working within the Animal Health section of MAFF. Wendy is vital part of the team providing both practical on farm advice, health planning, mastitis advisory work and regular veterinary work. Wendy is an Associate within the practice and is highly committed to working within the Park Veterinary Group.

Charlotte Wright BVSc CertVOphthal MRCVS
Associate Veterinary Surgeon

Charlie joined the practice in 2008 and is an Associate Veterinary Surgeon on the clinical team. Charlie’s workload is highly varied and her ability to multitask is the envy of man! Charlie works alongside the partner vets in providing support for the routine health visit program and is the lead vet involved in youngstock and infectious diseases of cattle

Gualter Gracia
Veterinary Surgeon

Gualter graduated from ICBAS (Oporto University) in 2011. He grew up in the north of Portugal. In university he developed a special interest in farm animals. He joined the Park Veterinary Group Farm team after spending two years in the northwest Ireland in a mixed practice. His main veterinary interests are large animal herd health management and medicine. In his spare time Gualter likes to spend time with his family and his dog. He is also a competitive rower, representing the local club.

Renzo Di Florio
Veterinary Surgeon

Renzo qualified from the University of Bologna in Italy. After a brief experience working in Italy he moved to UK looking for new challenges. He has worked for the last 12 months in a busy practice as a TB tester. Renzo also is part of the emergency vet team and is becoming an experienced and competent farm vet. He enjoys playing the guitar, cinema, reading, photography and he is a football fan and a big supporter of Italian Team Inter of Milan.
