How far are we are prepared to travel to your farm?

This really depends on the type of work. For consultancy or advisory work the typical area would be farms within 2 hours of Leicester. For normal services including full out of hours cover and emergencies most farms are within 50 miles of Whetstone.

How do we charge?

The majority of our work is charged on an hourly rate basis or via an agreed monthly contract. Health contracts which cover training, advice, farm monitoring and other services are proving a popular way for farmers to pay for health work.

What sort of experience does the farm team have?

Strength, depth and enthusiasm are the key ingredients to providing an excellent farm service. We provide all of these elements within the Park Vet Group. The majority of the farm team have around 10 years farm experience. All our younger vets work within the farm team and are fully supported and trained to Park Vet Group standards through our in house training and support program.

How do we manage medicine dispensing?

Most medicines are dispensed from the Whetstone surgery in line with your health plan. Pre-ordering of medicines allows for the vets visiting the farm on a regular basis to deliver the medicines cost effectively. We also have options to collect medicines from Rugby, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Chine House Vets and any of our clinics.

What is our typical response time for emergency calls?

This will naturally depend on the farm location and time of day of the call. We will generally arrive on farm within one hour of the call being phoned in. A rapid response is required for calvings and urgent clinical calls and we can respond to these via our large team of vet.

How do we charge for training and education?

The majority of our training is delivered free of charge courtesy of practice or external sponsorship. Specialist training delivered on farm (Milk Sure, AI, consultancy advice) is delivered on an hourly rate or as part of a monthly contract.

What sort of training do we provide?

On farm skills training ( sick cow management, foot trimming, lambing), computer training, use of medicines, Milk Sure and any training on request.
